Currently listening to...

..."Paint Me Down" by Spandau Ballet. I am always pleased when these New Romantic "Kilt Heroes" pop up on my iPod. They were quite the sensation back in the 80s, for a moment bigger than The Beatles.

"Paint Me Down" exemplifies the original Spandau sound: a hybrid between syncopated funk and British pop, with Tony Hadley's smooth voice crooning over it all. You can imagine that, when it was released, this video caused a bit of controversy with the lads dressed in skimpy loincloths smearing paint all over their lithe bodies. They should look at this video and be happy that it was captured on film for eternity just how lithe and beautiful they were...
